The organic product certification is the procedure by which a certification body, accredited by the Brazilian Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) and accredited by the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (Inmetro), guarantees in writing that a particular product, process or service is in accordance to the standards and practices of organic production.
Abroad, the international body that certifies the organic certifiers is IFOAM, International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement, which is the International Federation that brings together the various movements related to organic agriculture.
